The reality is that approximately 50% of individuals will encounter generalized incontinence at some point in their lives. Additionally, 1 in 10 people will experience fecal incontinence, yet there are few advocacy groups dedicated to this demographic.
Although the topic may be taboo and, is humorous at times, the true purpose of this initiative is to help individuals feel less isolated in their struggles and bring education about the conditions and medications that reek havoc in some peoples lives. These experiences can be deeply traumatizing and socially isolating. Research indicates that sharing similar traumatic experiences can be significantly beneficial for trauma survivors. If sharing these narratives helps even one person feel less ashamed, it will have been worthwhile.
